Help : Related Fields

Many of the data-fields in the MCPS repository have interlinked dependencies, for instance

• Data-fields which determine if a particular question was asked, such as "have you ever smoked tobacco" would determine whether the question "when did you first smoke tobacco" was asked;
• Data-fields which are closely tied together, such as the systolic and diastolic blood pressures taken at a single reading;
• Quality/auditing information generated by a device during operation;
• Data derived from other data, such as Body Mass Index constructed using weight and height.

The Related Fields section of the data-field description gives an indication of such dependencies. Note that 'obvious' relationships, such as those related to the sex or age participants are not always listed to avoid clutter, although knowledge of their values is necessary to assess much of the data within the repository.
