Dietary data had been collected at ages 4, 36, 43 and 53 years. At age 4 years, a brief 24 hour dietary recall was conducted to mothers of the cohort members. In adulthood, an estimated (unweighed) diet diary was used. At ages 36 and 43 years, this consisted of 2 days of recall and 5 days of prospective recording; at age 53 years only the 5 days of prospective recording was collected, and in general the 5 days of prospective recording have been used in publications of dietary data from all adult timepoints much more frequently than the 2 days of recall
